Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jeffery Taylor scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Vanderbilt Commodores to a 65-47 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers in a Southeastern Conference contest at Memorial Gym.
John Jenkins chipped in 16 points for Vanderbilt (15-5, 5-1 SEC) as it won its ninth game in ten tries. Festus Ezeli also pulled down nine rebounds in the winning effort.
Jeronne Maymon scored a team-high 15 points for Tennessee (9-11, 1-4), as it lost for the fourth time in five outings. Jarnell Stokes grabbed a game-high 10 boards.
The Commodores scored the first nine points of the game before taking a 40-21 lead into the intermission. Tennessee shot just 29.2 percent from the floor and went 0-of-6 from beyond in the arc in the opening period. Vanderbilt attempted nine more shots and shot 48.5 percent from the field in the first half.
Although the Volunteers heated up and made 40.7 percent of their field goals after the break, Vanderbilt never led by less than 16 in the second half and cruised to victory.
The Commodores scored 30 points off of the Volunteers' 25 turnovers.
