NCAA Game Summary - Saint Louis vs. Duquesne
Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Micah Mason finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the 11th-seeded Duquesne Dukes knocked off the 14th-seeded Saint Louis Billikens, 61-55, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament at the Barclays Center.
Jeremiah Jones scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists for Duquesne (12-18). Derrick Colter contributed 14 points and five boards and Dominique McKoy cleared a game-high 12 boards. The Dukes will now play sixth-seeded George Washington in the second round on Thursday.
Mike Crawford netted 16 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists for Saint Louis (11-21). Marcus Bartley and Davell Roby each netted 12 points, while Reggie Agbeko finished nine boards in the loss.
Although Duquesne converted 38.5 percent of its first-half field-goal attempts and held Saint Louis to a 28.6 shooting percentage, the Dukes trailed 26-23 entering halftime. The Billikens lead came from their 3-point shooting, as they connected on 6-of-14 beyond the arc, compared to just 1-of-9 from 3-point distance for Duquesne.
The Dukes shot much better in the second half as they connected on 50.0 percent of their field-goal attempts, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Duquesne held Saint Louis to a 32.4 shooting percentage in the final period, including just 4-of-15 from 3-point distance.
Duquesne outrebounded Saint Louis, 48-37, and tallied more points in the paint, 26-16.
