San Diego's Nick Kerr to transfer in hopes of being closer to dad, Steve
San Diego guard Nick Kerr is on his way out of the program.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder, who is the son of Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, will leave the program with a desire to be close to his old man, Don Norcross of UT San Diego reports.
Nick has expressed a desire to follow in his dad's footsteps, and will decide on his next program in a few weeks. It would be hard to imagine him getting far from the West Coast based on his words.
“My dad’s coaching the Warriors and I’m trying to become a coach,” Nick said. “I want to learn from him. I think being around (the Warriors’) practice would be the best thing for me to figure out what he’s doing.”
The 22-year-old averaged 1.5 points and 0.2 rebounds in his junior season. He plans on graduating in May, making him immediately eligible to play as a graduate transfer, wherever he goes.
