Anthony Grant reuniting with Billy Donovan, returning to Florida as assistant
Anthony Grant was ousted at Alabama in March, but he's staying in the SEC.
Grant will again be an assistant coach at Florida under Billy Donovan, with whom he served in that role from 1996-2006, spanning Donovan's first 10 seasons in Gainesville.
"Pretty easy call, man. It's all about relationships," Grant said, according to Chris Harry of GatorZone.com. "Pretty much everyone in that office is like family to me. So this is like coming home. The way it all worked out? God has a plan."
Grant will replace outgoing assistant Matt McCall on Donovan's staff.
In three seasons in Richmond, Grant guided VCU to a 76-25 record, then went 117-85 in six seasons at Alabama.
"I'm looking forward to getting down there and doing what I love to do," Grant said. "I have a lot to get familiar with. I'm the new guy coming in. I know Billy and the staff were disappointed with the results last year, but there are some good pieces in place, and the roster, I feel, will be talented next season."
