Brittney Griner of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury was arrested Wednesday on charges of assault and disorderly conduct – as was her fiancee, Tulsa Shock forward Glory Johnson.
Griner, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft after a stellar career at Baylor, averaged 15.6 points and eight rebounds for the WNBA-champion Mercury last season. She was named the Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the All-WNBA First Team.
Griner and Johnson were released from jail around 4 a.m. Thursday, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
