Kentucky's John Calipari agrees to extension through 2021-22

Kentucky head coach John Calipari has agreed to a contract extension that would keep him in Lexington through the 2021-22 season.

The news was first reported by Matt Jones of KentuckySportsradio.com.

The deal is believed to be worth $54 million over seven years.

Calipari signed an extension with the program last offseason, and the new agreement is believed to add one year and $8 million to the deal.

Calipari made $6.5 million this past season, and the new deal will escalate his salary on an annual basis, up to a high of $8 million starting in 2018-19.

The deal doesn't include a buyout agreement and contains incentives which could bring up the total value of the contract, according to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv.

Kentucky compiled a 38-1 record this past season, taking an undefeated 38-0 record into the national semifinals before the Wildcats suffered their first loss.

In six seasons in Lexington, Calipari has compiled a 190-38 record, bringing the Wildcats to the Final Four in four of the last five seasons.
