Draymond Green is definitely no longer the most underpaid player in the NBA.

Green, who signed a reported four-year, $82-million contract this summer, now plans to donate $3.1 million to Michigan State University, he announced Thursday.

That would be the largest-ever student-athlete donation made to the school, as noted in a press release. Green said the donation is a reflection of his gratitude towards his alma mater:

Michigan State means everything to me. I grew up in Saginaw and was lucky enough to attend Michigan State University where Coach Izzo believed in me and gave me the chance to succeed. I wouldn't be the person I am today without my Spartan experience and this donation reflects my deep appreciation to the university. This donation isn't just about me. I want more kids to have the opportunities (that) I had thanks to Michigan State and want to use this to stimulate all Spartans to give back to the best university in the world.

Green's donation will go toward building a strength and conditioning room in the school's Jack Breslin Student Events Center, and will also help fund an athletic program for inner-city children in Green's hometown of Saginaw, Mich.

Green had earned just $2.6 million over the life of his rookie contract before re-upping this summer.

Green played four years with the Spartans from 2008-12 and worked his way from being a seldom-used, overweight bench player to Big Ten Player of the Year in his senior year. He finished his collegiate career as the school's leading rebounder, while ranking second in blocks and steals.

With his philanthropic efforts out of the way, the 25-year-old Green will now turn his focus towards helping the Golden State Warriors defend their title in the season ahead.
