Rutgers suspends Corey Sanders 4 games for violating team rules

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Rutgers has suspended guard Corey Sanders for the next four games due to a violation of team rules, the school announced Monday.

"Although I am disappointed to announce this suspension, I believe that it will serve as a valuable learning experience for Corey," said head coach Eddie Jordan. "The team will continue to work hard in his absence and looks forward to his return."

Jordan did not elaborate on why Sanders was suspended, but the release noted the team would no longer be commenting on the incident.

The Scarlet Knights have lost 12 games in a row, and this latest news won't help matters. Sanders was Rutgers' leading scorer, averaging more than 16 points per game.
