The NCAA approved Chris Boucher's petition for an additional year of eligibility for the 2016-17 season, the Oregon basketball program announced Wednesday.

Boucher was projected to begin as a junior following his transfer to the school. However, it was ruled last November that he lost a year because of "when his eligibility clock started," Greg Walker, Oregon's sports information director, told the Oregonian.

That decision was reversed Wednesday, and the 6-foot-10 breakout sensation will have the opportunity to build upon his stellar first showing with the Ducks.

Boucher put up 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks in 26.3 minutes per game this season while shooting a blistering 54.2 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep.

"We wouldn't be anywhere near (22-6) without him, nowhere near that," Oregon coach Dana Altman said of Boucher at the end of February.

He spent last season at Northwest College in Wyoming, where the Montreal native posted averages of 22.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.8 blocks.

Boucher and the No. 1-seeded Ducks will face the winner of Thursday's play-in game between Southern and Holy Cross in the first round.
