Winning the College World Series marked a milestone for Coastal Carolina, but it was just a little more special for its head coach.

Though it's the first time the school has won a championship in any sport, head coach Gary Gilmore was emotional for a different reason.
"I lost (my dad) 10 years ago and I wanted so bad for him to be here, but I know he's watching," Gilmore said in a postgame interview.
Beyond winning his first national championship, Gilmore also recorded career win No. 1,100.
