Virginia Tech has suspended cornerback Adonis Alexander and defensive end Houshun Gaines indefinitely, head coach Justin Fuente announced Tuesday.
No reason was given for the suspensions, but Andy Bitter of The Roanoke Times reported that the pair were recently charged with marijuana possession.
Alexander moved from safety to corner this spring after appearing in 11 games last season. Gaines redshirted in 2015, and was expected to be a rotational pass-rusher this year.
