SEC shut out of NFL draft's top 5 for first time in 9 years
The SEC is known for its strong defenses, but the conference was on the wrong end of a shutout during the first five picks of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, and Jalen Ramsey made up the top five selections, representing the Pac-12, Missouri Valley, Big Ten, Big Ten, and ACC, respectively. With that, the SEC was kept unrepresented in the top five for the first time in nine years.
Jalen Ramsey goes No. 5 meaning the SEC's streak of producing a Top 5 overall pick that started back in 2007 has been snapped.

The sixth overall pick, meanwhile, also produced some history, but it had nothing to do with the vaunted SEC.
RONNIE STANLEY goes 6th overall. It had been 22 YEARS since a #NotreDame player went in the top 10 picks of the draft (Bryant Young).

Georgia's Leonard Floyd eventually ended the SEC's "drought," going ninth overall to the Chicago Bears.
