Michigan State's Edmondson granted full release days after Draymond Green incident

Jermaine Edmondson's 15 minutes of fame just got bumped up to 30.

The Michigan State cornerback has been granted his full release from the program and intends to play his final year of eligibility elsewhere, head coach Mark Dantonio announced Wednesday.

"In discussions with Jermaine Edmondson following spring practice and in the weeks thereafter, it became clear that Jermaine wanted to play a larger role on the team," Dantonio said in his statement. "After consulting with him in the summer, he felt it was in his best interest to finish his playing career elsewhere. We have granted him his immediate release to transfer to another institution to have that opportunity."

The fifth-year senior is now heading into the season without a confirmed home. He recorded 24 tackles last season to go along with three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.

Edmondson was involved in an incident involving Golden State Warrior's forward Draymond Green at a bar Saturday where Green slapped Edmondson, according to a police report obtained by ESPN's Dan Murphy.
