Lamar Jackson leads Louisville past Syracuse with record-setting game

The offensive force unleashed by Louisville on Syracuse in Friday night's game can only be classified as a 9.0 on the Richter Scale, and Lamar Jackson was at the heart of it.

The Louisville pivot had a game for the ages, finishing just a yard shy of becoming the first-ever FBS quarterback to record more than 400 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in a single game, according to Andrea Adelson of ESPN.

Thanks to Jackson, the Cardinals set a new school record for most offensive yards in a single game with 844 in the 62-28 victory, breaking the previous record of 779 set against Houston in 2003. The victory also marked the first time Louisville has scored 60-plus points in back-to-back games since 2005.

Despite falling short of the 400/200 record, the sophomore quarterback found other ways to etch his name into the record books.

Jackson finished the night 20-of-39 passing for 411 yards and one touchdown, adding 199 rushing yards on 21 carries for four touchdowns.

Running back Brandon Radcliff set a personal record with 155 total yards rushing on just nine carries, notching the third 100-yard game of his career against Syracuse.

After Jackson's Week 1 performance against Charlotte, in which he registered eight total touchdowns in just the first half, it wouldn't be a far cry to say he belongs on some Heisman Trophy candidate lists.
