Penn State's Mahon admitted to hospital in 'stable condition'

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

Just three days after being forced out of Penn State's game against Iowa with an undisclosed injury, offensive tackle Brendan Mahon has been checked into hospital.

A Penn State spokesperson confirmed that Mahon has been admitted to Hersey Medical Center and is in stable condition, but did not provide any further details, according to Greg Pickel of Pennlive.com.

There has been no concrete connection between Mahon's injury and the cause of his hospitalization as of yet. Mahon left the field during Penn State's first offensive drive Saturday before being carted off.

Mahon appeared in 13 games, 11 of them starts last season as a redshirt sophomore, seeing time at both left guard and right tackle.
