Shortly after losing running back Devine Redding, Indiana also lost a defensive presence to the NFL Draft in the form of Marcus Oliver.

The junior linebacker announced his decision in a letter to Hoosier Nation, reflecting on his time at Indiana and expressing his gratitude to be able to play for Indiana.

"I've learned that playing football is most importantly an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself," Oliver wrote. "I am ecstatic to continue this opportunity and declare myself eligible for the National Football League. I know that with the support of my Hoosier family I am destined to succeed."

Despite not playing in Indiana's Foster Farms Bowl showdown against Utah, Oliver enjoyed a successful junior season in which he recorded 96 tackles, five forced fumbles, and four sacks.
