There will be a new man running Houston's defense in 2017, and his name is Mark D'Onofrio.
Houston announced D'Onofrio as its new defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Friday, replacing Todd Orlando, who jumped to Texas along with former head coach Tom Herman.
D'Onofrio makes his return to college football after a year away from the game. Prior to Houston, D'Onofrio spent five years as defensive coordinator at Miami and five years as defensive coordinator at Temple before that.
