Oregon to fire newly hired co-OC Reaves after DUI arrest
Oregon has placed newly hired co-offensive coordinator David Reaves on administrative leave with the intention of firing him after he was arrested and charged with DUI early Sunday, the school announced.
In the statement, Ducks athletic director Rob Mullens said Reaves' contract will be terminated "with cause."
Reaves was officially hired by Oregon on Tuesday, and was expected to work alongside fellow co-offensive coordinator Mario Cristobal in 2017. The 38-year-old was brought to the Ducks by new head coach Willie Taggart, after they worked together at South Florida.
It's the second high-profile incident involving Oregon's coaching staff this offseason. Strength and conditioning coach Irele Oderinde was previously suspended one month for overextending players in a team workout, forcing multiple Ducks to be hospitalized.
