Former Colorado assistant coach Joe Tumpkin has been charged with five counts of second-degree assault and three counts of third-degree assault, according to Kyle Bonagura of ESPN.
Tumpkin was charged after it was found he "used his hands as a deadly weapon, caused bodily injury, and strangled," his ex-girlfriend.
Colorado suspended Tumpkin on Jan. 6 after the school learned a judge had issued a temporary restraining order against him, which led to his official resignation on Jan. 27.
