Penn State may have acquired the heir apparent to Saquon Barkley on Friday, as four-star running back Ricky Slade - a member of the 2018 recruiting class - committed to the Nittany Lions.
Slade, who hails from Woodbridge, Va., is ranked No. 2 among running backs in the 2018 class by ESPN, and sits at No. 30 on the ESPN 300.
Barkley, set to become a junior next season, is expected to be one of the top running back prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft, if he declares himself eligible.
Slade still holds scholarship offers from an array of schools, including Clemson, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State.
