Houston beefed up its defense Wednesday night, securing the services of lineman Reggie Chevis as a graduate transfer from Texas A&M.
Chevis, who played in all 13 games for the Aggies last season, confirmed his transfer to Sam Khan Jr. of ESPN.
After compiling 25 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble in his fourth and final season in College Station, he'll arrive at Houston with one year of eligibility left.
Anchored by freshman standout Ed Oliver, the Cougars featured one of the nation's most formidable defensive fronts a year ago.
Houston will open the new season Sept. 2 against UTSA.
