Michigan will ask Obamas to serve as honorary captains
Michigan will ask Barack and Michelle Obama to represent the program as honorary captains for a game this season, head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Saturday.
"Yeah, we're in the process of making an official ask," Harbaugh said, according to Nick Baumgardner of MLive.
The revelation came at the end of an A4 Aerial Assault quarterback camp in Ann Arbor, at which Harbaugh was one of the instructors - and a strict one at that.
"If something seems fun today, avoid it," Harbaugh told the young pivots, who were in Grades 9-12, at the beginning of the session. "We're here to get better."
The Wolverines hosted a number of high-profile honorary game captains last year, including Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, and program alum Tom Brady.
Harbaugh also revealed his team has settled on France (Paris and Normandy) and England (London) as its spring practice destinations for 2018. The Wolverines visited Italy this past April, and Harbaugh said at the end of the trip he was eyeing Brazil or South Africa for next year, though he noted any decision would be left up to his players.
