Derek Carr will have his No. 4 jersey retired at Fresno State when the Bulldogs open their season against Incarnate Word, the school announced Monday.

The Oakland Raiders' star quarterback owns numerous records at Fresno State, including career passing yards, career touchdowns, single-season passing yards, and single-season touchdowns. Carr garnered national attention in 2013 by throwing for a whopping 50 touchdowns and more than 5,000 yards.

The 26-year-old's efforts propelled him to a second-round selection by the Raiders in the 2014 NFL Draft, and in June he became the highest-paid player in the league by signing a five-year, $125-million contract.
