Texas is lending its hospitality and football facilities to Houston, after the Cougars relocated its football team to Austin in preparation for Hurricane Harvey, athletic director Hunter Yurachek announced Friday.
The Cougars are expected to remain in Longhorn territory at least through the weekend, but could be forced to extend their stay into next week.
Baylor, SMU, and TCU also offered Houston hospitality while it waits for the hurricane to either dissipate or move away from the Magnolia City, Yurachek said.
Hurricane Harvey has gained steam in recent days and could cause significant damage in several areas of the Lone Star State.
Houston is scheduled to open the season Sept. 2 on the road at UTSA.
