Oklahoma plans to recognize retired coach Bob Stoops and his wife Carol during homecoming weekend, the school announced Thursday.

The Stoops couple will be honored recipients at the OU Ring Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 27, and will serve as co-marshals in the homecoming parade on Saturday, Oct. 28.

"It is an honor for the University of Oklahoma to be able to pay tribute to Carol and Bob Stoops at homecoming this year," said university president David Boren. "They have generously given of themselves in their service to the university and to the broader community. The Stoopses are worthy role models for our students and have left a lasting impact on the university."

Stoops stepped down as head coach of the Sooners on June 7 after 18 seasons leading the program. He guided Oklahoma to 10 Big 12 titles and a national championship in 2000.

The Sooners will play their homecoming game against Texas Tech.
