Auburn's Kerryon Johnson says he'll play in Peach Bowl vs. UCF
Kerryon Johnson's season doesn't appear to be over just yet.
It appears Auburn will have its No. 1 option in the backfield when it takes on UCF on New Year's Day, as Johnson responded to a tweet Friday night confirming he'll play in the Peach Bowl.
Johnson's status for Auburn's season finale was up in the air after head coach Gus Malzahn said he'd wait until closer to the game to see how he progressed from a shoulder injury suffered during Auburn's Iron Bowl victory against Alabama. He was limited during the SEC championship game to just 44 yards on 13 carries.
"I know he'll want to play," Malzahn said earlier in the week, according to Lauren Shute of SEC Country. "He's a great competitor. All of our guys will want to play. Our guys play for each other. So, we'll see where that goes. I'll have a better idea once we get out to practice and move around and everything that goes with that."
The junior led the Tigers in rushing with 1,320 yards and 17 touchdowns on 263 carries.
