Alabama provided college football with one of the most thrilling finishes in recent memory, and its victory was largely due to the efforts of two individuals.
Following the win, Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne were honored as the CFP National Championship's offensive and defensive players of the game, respectively.
Tagovailoa was thrust into action to begin the second half after starter Jalen Hurts struggled. The true freshman managed to complete 14 of 24 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns, the last of which sealed the victory for Alabama.
Payne, who was a consistent force on defense for the Crimson Tide all season, registered six tackles.
