Ex-Texas Tech star Giles gets celebrated No. 7 jersey at LSU
The legacy of the No. 7 jersey at LSU is now in former Texas Tech transfer Jonathan Giles' hands - or at least on his back.
The Tigers announced Monday that Giles, who sat out last season following his move from the Red Raiders, will inherit the No. 7 uniform. It was worn last season by DJ Chark, who led the team in receiving, and for the three previous years by running back Leonard Fournette.

Giles recorded 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns receiving as a sophomore for Texas Tech in 2016, wearing jersey No. 9. LSU could certainly use his production, as the Tigers haven't had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2013, when Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. both topped the mark.
Other notable players to sport No. 7 at LSU in recent memory include Tyrann Mathieu and Patrick Peterson.
