Houston's Oliver plans to enter 2019 NFL Draft
All-American defensive tackle Ed Oliver revealed Monday that he intends to enter the 2019 NFL Draft following his junior campaign at Houston.
"I do plan on leaving," he said, according to Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle. "I wish I could stay another year but it's my time to go."
Oliver has been an absolute menace during his two years with the Cougars. He posted 73 tackles with 5.5 sacks last season en route to capturing the Outland Trophy, awarded to the nation's top interior lineman on either side of the ball.
The Houston native has been projected as a first-round pick in the 2019 draft, which is expected to be stacked with high-ceiling defensive linemen.
"This was a dream of mine coming in," he said. "I knew I was going on a business trip, and whether my business trip was three years or four years it just depend on how early I got on the field and how effective I was."
Oliver was the first five-star recruit in the history of the ESPN 300 to sign with a program outside the Power 5 conferences out of high school. He collected two sacks against Oklahoma in his college debut two years ago, and has been terrorizing opponents ever since.
