Georgetown linebacker Ty Williams walked at his graduation Saturday, two-and-a-half years after suffering a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed.
Williams was injured while trying to make a tackle against St. Francis in 2015. He was diagnosed with a C6 incomplete injury - a fractured vertebra that left him with partial feeling in his lower body but without the ability to initiate movement - and doctors made a strategic decision to not tell him whether he'd be able to walk again, according to Jacob Bogage of the Washington Post.
During Saturday's ceremony, Williams walked across the stage with the assistance of a brace and a walker. Volunteers also stood in front and behind Williams to help him keep his balance.
