Iowa's Reiff arrested, suspended for drunkenly mistaking police car for Uber
Iowa starting defensive tackle Brady Reiff was arrested Saturday morning after authorities say he mistook a police car for an Uber while intoxicated, according to a police report obtained by Kat Russell of The Gazette.
University of Iowa police said Reiff approached a parked UI police car and attempted to open the passenger door. He then moved to open the back door after realizing someone was sitting in the passenger seat.
When asked if he thought the vehicle was an Uber, police said Reiff replied, "Yes."
A breathalyzer test showed Reiff’s blood alcohol content was .204, twice the legal driving limit. He was taken to jail and was subsequently released around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said Monday that Reiff will be suspended for Iowa's season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 1.
