Nebraska-Akron game cancelled after lengthy weather delay

All they got in was the opening kickoff.
After one play, the season-opening game between Nebraska and Akron was postponed due to nasty weather in Lincoln.
The 8 p.m. kickoff was delayed for three hours before the game was officially cancelled.

Following a three-hour delay for lightning and thunderstorms, Saturday’s season opening, non-conference football game between Akron and host Nebraska has been cancelled. More information about the game status will be provided at a later date.
The game will not be rescheduled. Instead, Nebraska will open its season next Saturday against Colorado, and Akron will square off against Morgan State next week.
