Braylon Edwards admits it was a mistake to send the tweet that led to the Big Ten Network suspending him indefinitely, but Michigan's all-time leading receiver says he stands by his criticism of the program's current state under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

"I admit I was excessive and emotional and inebriated. Mix those together. But the focus of my tweets remains intact," Edwards told Angelique S. Chengelis of The Detroit News. "I stand by that. I was over-excessive Saturday night at 10:29, but I don't back down on my overall stance as an alum and a fan. I've always defended Michigan. Even this year, I was high on Michigan."

Edwards took aim at multiple Michigan players after its season-opener loss to Notre Dame last Saturday.

''(Offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz) is weak, line is weak, (quarterback Shea Patterson) is scared, fucking Michigan offense is so predictable.....Michigan football is sadly one thing......Trash,'' Edwards wrote.

Harbaugh said he was "disappointed" in Edwards for attacking Ruiz and Patterson, and called for any critics to "come after me" instead.

Edwards did just that after learning of his suspension.

Michigan will look to get back on track Saturday against Western Michigan.
