Frank Diaz, one of the coaches featured on the third season of the Netflix series "Last Chance U," was working at Trader Joe's when he got the call from Lane Kiffin inviting him to join the Florida Atlantic football coaching staff.
Diaz spoke about the conversation in an interview with TMZ Sports.
"I was bagging groceries at Trader Joe's and then I got a phone call from Lane Kiffin at FAU. Extremely grateful for that and for this opportunity," Diaz said. "I just wasn't sure if it was real or not. It was incredible."
Diaz previously served as a student assistant at Oregon under Chip Kelly before being named co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Independence Community College in Kansas.
