Iowa State versus Baylor briefly turned into an all-out brawl that required security guards to rush onto the field to assist officials in separating players.
As a host of players from both teams were fighting, Baylor defensive end Greg Roberts tried to jump over a referee to throw a punch at Iowa State running back David Montgomery.
Tempers initially flared when Baylor defenders were riding Montgomery out of bounds, pushing him into a Gatordate cooler.
On the play prior to the brawl, Cyclones wide receiver Hakeem Butler wrestled a Bears cornerback to the ground and held him there, sparking the fight.
Roberts and Montgomery were both ejected. Montgomery issued an apology for his role in the fracas after the contest:
First I would like to apologize to cyclone nation and my team for my actions, Me as a captain should have not reacted the way I did and I sincerely apologize for that!!! But I will defend my brothers no matter what and i stand on that!
