UCLA linebacker Jaelan Phillips, a former five-star recruit, has taken a medical retirement after suffering multiple concussions this season, a school spokesperson confirmed to Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times.
Phillips posted 20 tackles and one sack in four games this year. He had 3.5 sacks in six contests as a freshman in 2017.
The Redlands, Calif., native was the No. 3 overall recruit in 2017 and was a huge recruiting haul for the Bruins when he signed with the program out of high school.
