Former Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush announced Tuesday that he's transferring to UCF.
Wimbush lost the Fighting Irish's starting quarterback job to Ian Book early in the 2018 season. As a graduate transfer, he'll be eligible to play for UCF immediately.
The former four-star recruit is a dynamic runner, but never developed into an elite passer at Notre Dame.
It's an interesting transfer destination for Wimbush, as UCF already fields one of the nation's top quarterbacks in McKenzie Milton. However, Milton's currently recovering from a gruesome knee injury suffered in the team's final regular-season game and his 2019 status is up in the air.
