Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren announced Monday that the conference is forming an anti-racism and anti-hate task force.

Warren, the first black commissioner of a Power 5 conference, addressed the death of George Floyd in an open letter.

"George Floyd's death cannot be in vain. I have made the decision to create the Big Ten Conference Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Coalition and invite student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors, chancellors, presidents, and others to join me," Warren wrote.

Prior to joining the Big Ten, Warren served as COO of the Minnesota Vikings. He and his family lived in the Minneapolis area for more than 15 years.
