West Virginia suspended 11 players, including three starters, for their season opener Saturday after they violated team rules, sources told 247 Sports' Mike Casazza.
The punishments reportedly aren't linked to positive COVID-19 tests and were determined long enough ago that the team could prepare accordingly. Each player is in line for reinstatement after the game.
Left tackle Junior Uzebu, center Chase Behrndt, and wide receiver T.J. Simmons make up the trio of starters who won't be available against Eastern Kentucky.
