Maryland has scored a surprise win on the recruiting trail.

Outside linebacker Terrence Lewis signed with the Terrapins during the "All-American Bowl: Declaration Day" broadcast Saturday.

Lewis picked the Terrapins over offers from both Miami and Tennessee.

Lewis backed off his verbal pledge to the Volunteers in November after announcing his commitment to the program this past spring.

The Miami Central High School product is the 10th overall prospect on the ESPN 300. Lewis is the third-highest-rated recruit in the state of Florida and the second-highest-rated outside linebacker in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The five-star linebacker is Maryland's highest-ranked commitment. Lewis joins the fifth- and eighth-highest-rated linebackers in Demeioun Robinson and Branden Jennings, respectively, in the Terrapins' recruiting class.
