McCaffey opted out of the 2020 season and sought a transfer before the Wolverines began the campaign.
He will join his father, Bears head coach and former Denver Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey, at his new school. Ed has not coached a game since taking the position in 2019 after the Big Sky conference moved its season to spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dylan is the younger brother of Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey and the older brother of former Nebraska quarterback Luke McCaffrey.
A graduate transfer at Northern Colorado, the passer will be granted immediate eligibility for the 2021 campaign.
