4-star quarterback Maalik Murphy commits to Texas
Just over a week removed from National Signing Day, Texas has picked up significant verbal commitment to its 2022 class.
"I feel like I will be able to succeed at the highest level playing at the University of Texas with a man like Coach Sark by my side calling the plays," said Murphy, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren.
4-star quarterback Maalik Murphy announced his pledge to the Longhorns, choosing Texas over offers from Ohio State, Michigan, and Oregon.

ESPN ranks Murphy as the 16th overall prospect and second-best pocket passer this cycle. The California native is considered the second-rated prospect in the state.
Murphy's addition is a huge boost for new Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian. Texas picks up its fourth verbal pledge for 2022 and its first commit from outside the Lone Star State.
