Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei is heading to "Fansville."

The second-year signal-caller has partnered with Dr. Pepper and will appear in the company’s ad campaign throughout the season.

"For me, NIL has been a great opportunity to be able to work with brands, to be able to do stuff like this," said Uiagalelei, according to ESPN’s Andrea Adelson. "If I was playing college football five years ago, I wouldn't be able to do this.

"It's a great opportunity for people now to be able to build off their brand, make money, and work on different partnerships like Dr. Pepper. I'm super excited about it."

The soda company initiated contact about appearing in their marketing campaign, the passer added.

Uiagalelei is the only active collegiate player who will take part in the commercials that chronicle rival fans in a college football-obsessed town. It marks the first NIL deal Dr. Pepper has completed since the NCAA granted student-athletes the right to profit from their own name, image, and likeness.

Financial details weren't released.

The Dr. Pepper agreement is the second major deal for Uiagalelei after signing on with Bojangles in July.

With Trevor Lawrence now in the NFL, Uiagalelei is the unquestioned starter for a young Tigers offense. Clemson was recently ranked No. 2 in USA Today's AFCA coaches' poll.

Uiagalelei threw for 914 yards while recording five passing touchdowns with zero interceptions over 10 appearances, including two starts, as a true freshman last season.

Clemson opens its 2021 campaign against Georgia in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sept. 4.
