Top-5 2022 DL recruit Shaw commits to UNC

North Carolina landed a major addition Saturday, as defensive tackle Travis Shaw announced his commitment to the Tar Heels, according to 247 Sports' Steve Wiltfong.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound prospect chose the Tar Heels over offers from Clemson and Georgia.

Shaw, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, is the state's top-rated prospect and the 18th-ranked recruit in the Class of 2022, according to ESPN.

Shaw represents Mack Brown's seventh top-300 commit for 2022, joining linebacker Tychaun Chapman and wide receiver Sebastian Cheeks.

This is the second consecutive class where a top-five defensive lineman has committed to North Carolina. Keeshawn Silver joined the Tar Heels' Class of 2021.

North Carolina now has 13 members in its 2022 recruiting class.
