Sarkisian still hasn't named starting QB for Texas

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has yet to name a starting quarterback as the Longhorns inch closer to their Sept. 4 kickoff against Louisiana.

Sarkisian said, "No, I have not named one, so I guess there's nothing to share" when asked about his decision Thursday afternoon, according to the Austin American-Statesman's Brian Davis.

Redshirt freshman Hudson Card and redshirt junior Casey Thompson have split reps in training camp. Both made appearances against Colorado in the Alamo Bowl, with Thompson recording four touchdowns on eight completions for 170 yards.

As many second-string quarterbacks enter the transfer portal for another shot at a starting job, Sarkisian said he's not considering the possibility of losing a Longhorns passer after he names a starter.

"I can't worry about that. I have to make decisions that are in the best interest of the entire football organization and our entire team," Sarkisian said.
