Mountain West teams will forfeit if unable to play due to COVID-19
If a Mountain West Conference team can't participate in a contest during the 2021-22 season due to COVID-19-related issues, that squad will be considered to have forfeited the game and the matchup won't be rescheduled, the conference announced Friday.
Forfeits will count as a loss for the impacted team, and the scheduled opponent will be given a win for the purpose of conference standings.
If both teams can't take part in a game, the match will be considered a "no-contest."
The conference also announced there will not be a minimum roster threshold.
The Mountain West's game-cancellation policy applies to all conference-sponsored sports. Other conferences have enacted similar policies including the forfeiture condition, such as the ACC, Big 12, and Pac-12.
