5-star QB Nelson follows Riley to USC after decommitting from Oklahoma
Five-star 2023 quarterback Malachi Nelson announced his commitment to USC on Tuesday, joining Lincoln Riley in making the move from Oklahoma to USC.
The third-ranked overall prospect in the class of 2023 committed to the Sooners in July but announced his decommitment Sunday following Riley's departure, citing "recent events and changes."
Hailing an hour away from USC in Los Alamitos, California, Nelson marks Riley's first commitment of his Trojans tenure.
Oklahoma has seen multiple decommitments following Riley's exit, including other 2023 four-star prospects in Makai Lemon, Treyaun Webb, and Brandon Inniss. Additionally, prospects from the class of 2022, notably four-star defensive end Derrick Moore and four-star linebacker Kobie McKinzie, have also decommitted.
