Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott is the next head coach of Virginia, the Cavaliers announced Friday.

Current Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced last week that he's stepping down following the 2021 season, but he will still coach in the Fenway Bowl.

Elliott joined Clemson in 2011 as a running backs coach and was a co-offensive coordinator for the Tigers' national titles in 2017 and 2019. He was promoted to assistant head coach for the 2021 season.

Clemson is now without an offensive coordinator or a defensive coordinator after Brent Venables was named Oklahoma head coach on Dec. 5.
