Jayden Daniels transfers to LSU
Former Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels has committed to LSU for the 2022 season, the school announced Sunday.
"Jayden is an outstanding player who will make our quarterback room even stronger," head coach Brian Kelly said in a statement. "He's a playmaker with a strong arm and the ability to make plays with his feet."
Daniels, a graduate transfer, should be eligible for spring practice and is expected to arrive on campus in the next few weeks, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The California native entered the transfer portal in February. Daniels threw for 6,025 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in three seasons with the Sun Devils.
He racked up 2,381 passing yards, 16 total touchdowns, and 710 rushing yards in the 2021 season, leading the Sun Devils to an 8-5 record.
Arizona State is in the midst of an ongoing NCAA investigation regarding alleged recruiting violations under head coach Herm Edwards.
Meanwhile, LSU boasts a talented passing group that includes Myles Brennan, Garrett Nussmeier, and incoming freshman Walker Howard. Some of the Tigers' signal-callers entered the portal this offseason, with Max Johnson (Texas A&M) finding a new home.
