Arizona State parted ways with head coach Herm Edwards on Sunday.

Edwards led the Sun Devils to a 1-2 record to begin the 2022 season after losing 30-21 to Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

School president Michael Crow was less than impressed following the defeat.

"They showed up to play, and we didn't," he said, according to Greg Moore of the Arizona Republic.

Edwards was in his fifth season with the program after being hired in December 2017.

Running backs coach Shaun Aguano will take over as interim head coach, according to The Athletic's Doug Haller.

The 68-year-old compiled a 26-20 record while at Arizona State. The Sun Devils climbed as high as No. 17 on the AP Top 25 rankings and own a 1-2 record in bowl games during Edwards' run at the helm.

The NCAA is currently investigating Arizona State for alleged recruiting violations.

Prior to taking the ASU job, Edwards served as the head coach of the New York Jets (2001-05) and Kansas City Chiefs (2006-08).
